My portrait photography
For me, the word ‘portrait’ covers a wide variety of photography. A family portrait, for example, is not the same as a solo portrait. A solo portrait of one person could be a headshot for commercial work or acting, or a portrait for their wall at home.
There are so many styles that portrait photographers can adopt and, as time passes, those styles can come into and out of fashion. I have a fondness for black and white portraits and will always try a shot in monochrome style when editing. However, my clients may not want a gallery of black and white photos from their session so I do work in colour too. I work with my clients to find the style they are looking for.
For me, a portrait has to feel authentic and really bring out the soul of the subject. I'm not satisfied with simply posing a person and taking their picture - it has to be more than that.
During the summer months we can shoot together in the evenings or on the weekend. In the winter months shoots will take place on weekends.

I'm based in Kirkbymoorside on the edge of the North York Moors so in the Ryedale area there are a plethora of stunning locations to choose from.

I come to your home (or maybe one you want to borrow) and we work together to get amazing portraits in the home environment.
For larger families, maybe with smaller children, this can be a good choice as they feel more settled.
If you have pets such as dogs, cats, or maybe a horse, we can incorporate them too.
