Dance School Photography

The first step is to contact me to express your interest is hosting one of our dance photography experience days at your school. If you have dates in mind for the experience day then please include these as the first thing I need to check is availability in my diary.

Once a booking has been agreed all you need to do is advertise the experience day to you students and parents and take the bookings.

After we have agreed the date and confirmed the booking we'll send over some information for you to give to your students and parents. We can also supply graphics and print collateral to help advertise the experience day for an additional fee.

Once your booking is confirmed, we will provide comprehensive information for your parents, including details on dancers' outfit, hair and makeup recommendations, and a breakdown of image pricing. Additionally, we offer a convenient time slot template that can be printed and employed to streamline your scheduling.

On the day

On the experience day, we will arrive at the agreed location, typically your dance studio, an hour prior to the commencement of the first dancer's session. We come equipped with our professional backdrop and lighting lighting system that will be setup and ready to go.

Each dancer is allocated a dedicated time slot lasting from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the total number of dancers booked. We adhere to a structured schedule, which includes a 30-minute lunch break, along with morning and afternoon tea/coffee/comfort breaks. Our commitment extends up to 8 pm is necessary. For larger groups of dancers that exceed a single day's capacity, we will coordinate an overnight stay and split the photo shoot over two days.

We distinguish ourselves from the 'pay-per-shot' model by dedicating time and attention to each dancer, allowing for experimentation with various poses and movements. We understand that excellence often requires multiple attempts. Dancers are encouraged to try variety of static poses and dynamic action shots.

As an additional benefit, if any of your dancers are preparing for dance or theatre college applications, we provide a complimentary headshot in addition to the images captured during the session.

I want to offer the best photos to clients and it is for that reason I do not employ a print-on-the-day system at my dance photography experience days. Instead, I treat these sessions like any other shoot I undertake and professionally edit the photos so that parents have the choice of the best when they are choosing which to purchase. Any artist worth their salt only wants to showcase their best work and I am no different.

Once the photos are edited they are uploaded to a secure online gallery unique to each dancer where they can view the photos and order what they would like.

Our Dance Photography Experience Days are often most sought after on weekends. This is when dance schools and dance photographers are usually fully engaged with classes, competitions, and show preparations, which may even involve extra rehearsals in anticipation of the summer and winter show seasons. In recognition of these busy schedules, we have thoughtfully extended our offerings to encompass special photography sessions during school holidays. This enables you to enjoy a dedicated day of dance photography without any interference with your regular dance commitments.

This works pretty much the same way as I when I shoot at dance festivals and competitions in that I do not charge for my attendance, nor do I charge parents for the sessions. I am paid through the orders placed by parents for the photos.

I offer wide range of print sizes plus other items such as mugs, fridge magnets and keyrings. I do also offer the option to purchase the digital files. Prints start at £10 each and digital files are £20 each. I have a range of package options available in additional to the a-la-carte price list.
