I'm rather late in posting this to my blog, but given that the transition from 2025 to 2026 also meant me moving my entire website (which needed re-writing from scratch) to a new platform I will give myself some slack.

Towards the end of the year I site down and look back on my work for the year. I choose some of my favourite photos from photoshoots and dance competitions to put to a public vote to fin day photo of the year.

This year was ecpecially tough as it was a very busy year for me. But, after a little time I whittled it down to 40 photos that I put to a vote.

After a week of voting, the the top spot switching between numerous photos in that time, I am pleased to announce that the winner of my photo of the year 2025 is...

JASMINE!

Smoke on the Shambles

I would have been pleased for any of my top 40 to have won the photo of the year. But this is a shot I am especially proud of. For a while I had this kind of shot in my mind but never got around to creating it. I took the plunge and bought some atmosphere spray and took them along to some Christmas photoshoots in York. I'd tried a few similar shots to this, but I think Jasmine's choice of outfit and pose just worked for this vision to come to life.

As a keepsake for Jasmine, this photo was made into an acrylic block piece if desktop art.
