Photographing dance festivals is something I’ve come to love. These weekends are often packed with energy, long hours of shooting, and a whirlwind of performances. But it’s always a joy to witness the dedication and talent that dancers bring to the stage.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph a new kind of event for me—a dance championships. The Prima Dance Events Championships launched its new season in Tadcaster, and I was lucky enough to capture the action at the well-known Riley Smith Hall.

A championship like this showcases the best of the best. These dancers have all excelled in open sections of various festivals, regularly placing in the top ranks. As expected, the standard of performance was exceptionally high.

From lyrical to tap, ballet to modern, and acro to song & dance, every section was packed with talent. It was thrilling to capture the passion and precision of these dancers as they performed with all their heart.
