Denim en Pointe with Isobel

This was a last minute Denim en Pointe shoot arranged though Isobel's mum and she came prepared not only with denim but a her can-do attitude.
I'd chosen to shoot local to where both Isobel and I live for pure convenience but it just goes to show you don't need to head to fancy locations to get great images. These were shot in Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire using some of the cobbled areas but mostly an industrial storage area that gave some great background options with shutters, railings, fences, walls and shipping containers.
I had my usual trolley of gear for outdoor shoots with me but chose to keep things pretty simple using just one camera/lens combo and a small off-camera flash unit.
Isobel is an incredibly talented dancer so she nailed those poses with ease, but she also found her style in posing too and her confidence grew as the relatively short shoot progressed.

Denim en Pointe
My Denim en Pointe project is all about capturing the amazing weightlessness of a ballet dance en point while bring the everyday clothing of denim to the fore. We all wear denim at some point (unless you're Anton du Beck) and blending this with a dancer en pointe just seemed like such a contrast that would draw the view into the shot.
