A Family Portrait in Duncombe Park, Helmsley

On a stunning June Saturday morning I met with Holly, Ed and Esme to capture this beautiful family in the stunning ground of Duncombe Park in Helmsley. It's always a privilege to capture a family portrait that I know they will cherish and hang on their wall.
The family had won this shoot from a prize I donated to the Sarah-Louise Ashworth School of Dance for their Easter fund-raising raffle and it's always nice to be in a position to do something to help a good cause, especially grass-roots performing arts.
We kept the session really relaxed and just went with the flow - always the way to go when working with children of any age in my experience. The set of 50 photographs delivered to the client contained a blend of the posed portraits and some of the candid moments in between.
Using the features in the parkland we created a varied gallery of photographs. The red brick of the Helmsley Walled Garden and the blue door were especially great backdrops, as was having Helmsley Castle there too.
Towards the end of the session we moved into Helmsley town centre and used the banks of the beck opposite Crowberry Wood to add another variation to the backdrop.
Working with this lovely family to create these photographs was an absolute pleasure.
